SUNFLOWER

How did the sunflower get its name?

The sunflower is a plant which is widespread throughout the world and famous for its peculiar behaviour, from which it gets its name. during the day its bloom is always turned towards the Sun. Like all tropism phenomena (turning towards a stimuli) the movement of the Sunflower is controlled by a hormone, a substance produced by the plant and which can stimulate or stop growth. This hormone is mainly in the part which is in the shade, and which grows more quickly than the part in the Sun, where there is less hormone. The Sunflower tries to balance the distribution by constantly bending its stem towards the Sun
